A Robertson County woman charged with murdering her mother has pleaded not guilty

According to LEX 18 in the courtroom, the attorney for Torilena Fields, the woman charged in connection with her mother's murder, entered a plea of ​​innocence in court on Tuesday.

Her next court date is scheduled for March 10, 2025 in Robertson County.

A Robertson County woman was indicted by a grand jury Monday on multiple charges, including the murder of her mother, according to court documents.

The document lists the following charges Torilena Fields was charged with:

  • murder
  • Abuse of a corpse
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Torturing a dog resulting in serious bodily harm or death
  • Obstruction of government operations

The indictment details that Torilena “shot Trudy Fields in the head and stabbed her multiple times” and mutilated her body by “decapitating, dismembering and disemboweling” her head, hands, feet, and “I put my forearms in a pot.” oven and heated them until they were charred.
According to the indictment, Fields also “intentionally tortured and killed a pet dog.”

She did not appear in court or via Zoom on Monday.

Fields' bail is set at $1.5 million, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 23

Investigators arrested a woman after they said they found her mother's dismembered body outside the home they shared in Robertson County.

LEX 18's Caleb Barnes went to Mt. Olivet where a community is in shock.

State police say they were called to a home on Brierly Ridge Road after someone who was there to do work on Trudy Fields' property told them she hadn't opened the door and then saw her What he believed was her dismembered body lying on the grass near a bloodstained mattress.

Kentucky State Police Trooper David Jones said, “Units responded and found a dead female in the backyard. Tried to contact someone in the house. The house was locked. They backed off and set up a perimeter. We had other units respond. I ended up getting a search warrant for the apartment.”

According to one citation, the worker told police he had seen Trudy Fields alive the day before, along with her 32-year-old daughter, Torilena Fields. He said Torilena “cast a spell on her and was confrontational.”

Because of the circumstances, investigators said they called a special operations team and entered the home Wednesday evening.

“Our SWAT team responded to serve the search warrant given the circumstances of the body and they did not know what was in the home and executed the search warrant,” Jones said.

According to the citation, the interior of the home was a scene of horror.

A search of the home revealed “several body parts that had been cooked in a stainless steel pot in the oven.”

Additionally, investigators say Torilena Fields appeared to have blood on her face, hands and clothing and did not leave the house until she was tear gassed.

Torilena is currently being discharged from the hospital and will be transported to the Bourbon County Detention Center upon her release from the hospital.

Torilena faces multiple charges, including obstruction of government operations, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. As the case develops, more charges could be filed against Torilena.

State Police tell LEX 18 an autopsy will be performed tomorrow and they hope to officially confirm the victim's identity.
