When Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a child, her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, convinced her that she was seriously ill. She underwent numerous unnecessary procedures and took countless medications for years, even being confined to a wheelchair even though she knew she would walk. But as a victim of Munchausen's proxy, Gypsy feared her mother and retribution. Aside from the emotional and psychological abuse, there were other consequences. Some of the medications caused Gypsy to lose her teeth and eventually get dentures.
