Newburgh man accused of trafficking crack cocaine

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 43-year-old Newburgh man is spending time in the Vanderburgh County Jail after being arrested overnight.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, an Evansville police officer ran the license plate of a car and discovered that the driver, Robert D. Nickles, was wanted on multiple warrants.

Officials say Nickles was stopped and taken into custody.

During a search of his vehicle, officers said they found more than 12 grams of crack cocaine and 5 grams of marijuana.

According to an affidavit, officers concluded the amount of cocaine found in the car was not for personal use.

Robert D. Nickles was arrested and booked into jail on cocaine or drug trafficking, marijuana possession, failure to appear and other charges.
