The baby's death in Lynchburg was a clear case of murder

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – The death of a four-month-old baby has been ruled a homicide, according to Lynchburg police.

Lynchburg Police responded to the emergency room at Lynchburg General Hospital on May 19, 2024 in reference to the death of a 4-month-old baby. According to Lynchburg police, the initial investigation revealed the child died at a residence in the 1700 block of Grace Street.

According to police, investigators interviewed both of the baby's parents as part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death.

According to police, the father died by suicide two days after the baby's death in the Clay Street parking garage in the 800 block of Clay Street.

According to police, recent investigations and autopsy results indicate that the baby was the victim of a murder. The father was the only man of interest in this case and Lynchburg police are not looking for anyone else at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
