Klay Thompson emotional after Warriors return to action at Chase Center – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

As expected, emotions were running high leading up to Tuesday's NBA Cup game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Warriors.

Klay Thompson was introduced to the Chase Center crowd, albeit as an opponent for the first time in his 14-year NBA career.

As part of the “Salute Captain Klay” experience, fans stood wearing captain hats and warmly welcomed the Splash Bro to his forever home while a special tribute video played on the Jumbotron.

After the video, Thompson entered the court and hugged Dub Nation as the cheers grew louder.

A fitting welcome for an eternal franchise legend.

Having spent the last 13 years with the Warriors in the Bay, Thompson's legacy in the area will live on forever – no matter what jersey he wears.
