Andrew Wiggins' latest injury status for Warriors vs. Mavericks

Without star shooting guard Klay Thompson, the Warriors couldn't have won four NBA championships in the last decade, but the five-time All-Star left his Golden State legacy behind and joined the Dallas Mavericks in pursuit of a fifth title .

Thompson will return to Chase Center on Tuesday for the first time since leaving free agency this offseason as he looks to lift the 5-5 Mavericks in an NBA Cup group game against the superlative 8-2 Warriors.

While all eyes are on Thompson upon his return, people seem to be ignoring the importance of this game. While not everyone cares about the NBA Cup, a battle between two of the most powerful Western Conference teams could change the dynamic of both teams, especially if the winner competes for the NBA Cup.

The Warriors will need all the help they can get against a Mavericks squad led by Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and former Dub Klay Thompson. Luckily for Golden State, star forward Andrew Wiggins was promoted to active player for Tuesday's game.

Wiggins missed two games early in the season but was impressive when healthy. Wiggins is averaging 15.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and is shooting a career-high 41% from three-point range.

The Warriors have relied on Wiggins as a creator on the wing, and the 11-year veteran has delivered.

Wiggins will play an important role in Tuesday's game against the Mavericks, especially if he is tasked with defending Klay Thompson in his return game.
