Broncos' Josh Reynolds shot twice after leaving Denver-area strip club; per team treated for “minor injuries”.

Denver Broncos receiver Josh Reynolds was shot twice while leaving a Denver-area strip club last Friday morning, according to Denver's NBC affiliate 9News.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday, October 18. Around that time, several 911 calls were received from victims saying they had been shot, according to court documents. Among the victims was Reynolds, who was shot in the left arm and the back of the head. Another man was shot in the back and a third victim was injured by shattered glass. All three victims suffered abrasions from climbing over a fence to escape the shooters.

The Broncos issued a statement Thursday afternoon confirming the news that Reynolds was the victim of a shooting. In the statement, the team confirmed that Reynolds was “being treated for minor injuries.”

“Out of respect for the legal process, we will leave further comment on this matter to the authorities,” the statement said.

Denver police have arrested two men in the case, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza.

Before the shooting, the victims said they were at the local strip club Shotgun Willies. The victims left the club around 2:45 a.m. and Mendoza, who had entered the club around midnight, followed them outside, according to video from the club. The documents said Mendoza did not take care of the victims at the club; The victims said there were no problems during this time.

Three vehicles, including one driven by Mendoza, were seen following the victim's vehicle as it left the parking lot, according to the documents. Two drivers began shooting at the victim's vehicle, and the drivers continued to follow the victims as they got onto the highway.

The victims had to abandon the vehicle on the highway because it could no longer drive. Police later located the victim's vehicle, which had numerous bullet damage. Two fired shell casings were found behind the vehicle.

According to court documents, Charlesworth told investigators after his arrest that he was “helping” a friend who had asked him to follow the victims due to a previous conflict. Charlesworth denied shooting at the victims and said the shots came from the other vehicles. He refused to describe these vehicles.

Reynolds, 29, is an eight-year NFL veteran who is in the midst of his first season with the Broncos. He is currently on injured reserve after undergoing surgery on a broken finger.
