Toronto Stadium's gesture to Taylor Swift goes viral ahead of Eras show

Toronto got creative when it came to honoring Taylor Swift's impending arrival, with Canada hosting the final shows of the singer's record-breaking Eras Tour.

The “Bad Blood” star plays the first of six shows at the Rogers Center on November 14, and the stadium has prepared for the extravaganza with some custom-made decorations.

Outside, the Rogers Center has set up giant “friendship bracelets” that read “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour.” The singer's fans have long exchanged handmade bracelets at her concerts, usually with a person's name or other details, along with other jewelry such as beads, flowers, smiley faces or hearts.

The giant wristbands were first seen outside stadiums for the New Orleans and Indianapolis legs of the Eras Tour last month and in early November.

A Swift fan account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a photo of the bracelets. “Toronto's Rogers Center and Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium officially swapped giant friendship bracelets this week ahead of Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' in Toronto!” wrote @tswifterastour in the post's caption. At the time of writing, it has gone viral and has more than 363,000 views.

Other Swifties – the name of the singer's fan base – reacted to the photo in replies to the post.

“I wish they had started doing this earlier on tour. I love it,” wrote @joehogan54.

“I love the Eras tour. It's a complete rollercoaster of emotions!” replied @jeon_cool_soul.

“So few + [positive] things in the world. What do we do when the tour is over? I binged on so many shows, watched grainy live streams in the middle of the night, Disney+, traveled to another continent. Make sure Taylor and his team need a break – grateful for all the good,” @Jennsteeveskiss added.

Swift's Eras Tour began in March 2023 and is the highest-grossing live music tour of all time. The singer said she would more than double the number of shows on the schedule.

By the time she's finished, Swift will have performed the Eras Tour concert 149 times across five continents.

The wristbands outside Toronto's stadium were just one of many examples of a city marking the arrival of the superstar musician.

Stockholm, Sweden was temporarily renamed “Swiftholm” when she toured there in May this year, it was announced on the city's website.

Even the home of the British royal family joined in the tradition when Swift toured the UK over the summer.

The military band at Buckingham Palace in London performed their hit “Shake It Off” at the changing of the guard ceremony in June, delighting Swifties worldwide.
