A spokesperson for Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed that three Hillsboro High School students were on the school bus when the driver crashed into the median wall on Briley Pkwy. According to MNPS, a student was injured and taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt for evaluation.

The school bus driver and counselor sustained injuries in the accident and required treatment, MNPS said. Both were also transported to the hospital.

All southbound lanes of Briley Pkwy. were closed so that emergency responders could treat the injured driver and cleanup crews could clear the wreckage. Motorists will be detoured off the highway at Centennial Boulevard. However, as traffic backs up on Clarksville Pike, commuters are urged to find alternative routes.
