Detroit teenager charged after shooting and killing 14-year-old, injuring his mother

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 15-year-old Detroit teenager has been charged after he shot two people, including killing another teenager and wounding his mother.

These allegations stem from an incident that occurred last week on November 7th. Around 6 p.m. that day, officers responded to the area of ​​Seward Street and Second Avenue for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, first responders determined that both victims had been shot. The 14-year-old teenager was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. The mother was hospitalized and discharged after treatment.

Investigators say the teen was shot multiple times in the head, left arm, right hand and left thigh after an argument with the 15-year-old. The mother was also shot in the right arm.

The teen has been classified as an adult, meaning the judge has the choice of sentencing the teen as an adult or not.

The teen was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated firearm. He is due in court later this afternoon.
