Videos show severe flooding in Lafayette, Louisiana

Widespread flash flooding occurred in Lafayette this morning as heavy rainfall from a stationary weather system resulted in significant rainfall across the region.

The rains caused road closures, school cancellations and disruptions for many in the community. Several homes and businesses reported flooding and motorists were stranded on impassable roads.

As the rain subsides, Lafayette residents are beginning to assess the impact, although some areas are still experiencing flooding. Below we're sharing a gallery of videos from locals capturing the scene across the city.
