Steph Curry explains joint decision with Klay Thompson not to appeal to Warriors fans

Golden State Warriors star guard Steph Curry scored 37 points – including the last 12 of the game for the Warriors – to spoil guard Klay Thompson's return to the Bay Area in a Dallas Mavericks uniform on Tuesday night as Golden State Dallas defeated with 120-20 points. 117.

The highlight of the night was Curry's apparent offensive burst in the fourth quarter, which underscored Thompson's return to the Warriors in a new jersey and everything he meant to the Golden State franchise.

Curry had originally planned to address the Chase Center crowd before the game as Thompson was honored upon his return, but the two former teammates mutually agreed to scrap that idea before the game. Curry explained the decision he made with Thompson during his postgame press conference.

“From my point of view, it was more about the fans recognizing him. I don't think I needed to say anything to instigate that. When we got here for two-line layups and after the tribute video, it was pretty obvious that it was.” “I won't say it loud enough either. “It’s not about me, it’s about what he meant to the Bay Area, our franchise and all the fans who got to see him from 2011 through last year,” Curry said.

It was certainly a classy move from Curry, who has not lacked class in his historic NBA career. Curry was all about Thompson on Tuesday night, except of course when it came to the contest, where Curry showed off everything that will make him a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he's done with his NBA career.
