Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking arrests in Hopkins Co.

HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WFIE) – Three people were arrested early Tuesday morning on various drug charges.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers said they stopped a car on I-69 after it strayed into the median.

Authorities identified the driver as Dane Branscum and his passengers as James Scott and Katherine Browning.

Officers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search, authorities told us they found nearly 2 pounds of meth, 72 pills, marijuana, syringes and other drug paraphernalia in the car.

All three are currently in the Hopkins County Jail facing charges including drug trafficking.
