Former Tennessee lawmaker accused of shooting seven dogs

BETHEL SPRINGS, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a former deputy with the McNairy County Sheriff's Department with multiple felonies in connection with the shooting of several dogs.

On November 4th, the Sheriff's Department received a call regarding animal welfare. Deputy Connor Brackin came to a home in the 8300 block of State Route 199 in Bethel Springs to check on the condition of the dogs. Deputy Brackin released one of the dogs to the appellant.

The TBI reports that the deputy allegedly used his weapon on the property to shoot and kill seven dogs for reasons currently under investigation.

The TBI then opened an investigation into the alleged shooting on November 7.

Approximately a week later, on Tuesday, November 12, the TBI obtained warrants for Brackin on seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. He later turned himself in and was booked into the McNairy County Jail.
