Key players get big injury updates ahead of Grizzlies-Lakers

While their roster isn't dealing with as many injury issues as the New Orleans Pelicans, the Memphis Grizzlies are battling their own injury issues heading into the 2024-25 season. However, an update from the team on Tuesday revealed that some key players are leaning toward returning to the hardwood.

In a Memphis Grizzlies PR on Additionally, the Grizzlies' breakout player from last season, Vince Williams Jr., was upgraded to doubtful because he started the season with a left leg injury.

Smart has missed more than half of Memphis' games this season as he struggled to establish his offensive production with 23.5/16.7/81.8 shooting distributions and 5.6 points per game in five games. Since joining the Grizzlies in the 2023 offseason, Smart has only appeared in 25 of 93 possible games.

Williams Jr. broke out for Memphis last year, averaging 10.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while starting in 33 of his 53 games. Williams suffered a left leg injury in September before training camp.

The Lakers and Grizzlies last met a week ago, where they won at home 131-114. They will compete in this rematch without Ja Morant, who will be sidelined for at least a week with hip and pelvic injuries.
