Man accused of killing woman in Salisbury car park

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) – A man was arrested on Thursday, October 24th after being accused of killing a woman in a Salisbury parking lot on Wednesday, October 23rd.

Hermon Donald Floyd III, 44, was charged with first-degree murder and lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center without bail. The victim's identity has not been released.

Police said around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday they responded to a parking lot on Statesville Boulevard for a robbery in progress. When they arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries consistent with assault.

Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

As part of the investigation, police said around 5:15 p.m. Thursday that they executed a search warrant at an apartment along Clancy Street after finding information linking Floyd to the apartment.

There, authorities said they found items inside that linked him to the murder.

The investigation is still ongoing and no further details are currently available.
