Luka Doncic's blind assist on Victor Wembanyama is the NBA's first “wow” play of the season

Victor Wembanyama was one of the best defenders in the NBA as a rookie. As he enters his second season, the Spurs big man is a trendy choice for the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Luka Doncic may be the most unstoppable offensive player in the NBA right now. Doncic's blend of fast-paced scoring and playmaking helped propel the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season, and at 25 years old, he's just beginning his prime.

When the Spurs and Mavericks squared off on Thursday night to open the 2024-25 season, Doncic and Wembanyama met in a fast-paced attack. It appeared as if the Spurs star was ready to block a layup attempt from Doncic. Then Luka reached his bag and found magic.

Doncic threw an over-the-shoulder pass that landed perfectly in the hands of teammate PJ Washington. Washington converted the third corner kick to make the climax official. Watch the piece here:

See, Dyson Daniels, this is how it's done! When a star teammate makes a great pass, you have to block the shot.

With Luka at the helm, the Mavs will be great once again. Spurs will get there with Wemby at some point, but probably not yet.
