IDF announces names of five fallen soldiers killed in southern Lebanon – Israel News

The IDF said on Friday that five soldiers were killed in fighting in southern Lebanon.

Major (Res.) Dan Maori, 43, of Beit Yitzhak, served as deputy battalion commander and Captain (Res.) Alon Safrai, 28, of Jerusalem, served as a tank officer.

The other soldiers appointed Chief Warrant Officer (Res.): Omri Lotan, 47, from Bat Hefer; Chief Warrant Officer (Res.) Guy Idan, 51, from Kibbutz Shomrat; and Staff Sergeant Major Tom Segal, 28, of Ein Habesor.

All of the fallen soldiers served in the 89th Battalion of the 8th Brigade.

According to the IDF, the deaths include Maj. Maori, Capt. Safrai, CWO Lotan, CWO Idan and St.-Sgt.-Maj. Segal brings the total number of soldiers killed on or since October 7 last year to 762.

Reservists seriously injured in incident

The military added that four reservists were seriously injured in the incident in which the five soldiers fell.

These include two IDF reservists serving in the 9203rd Battalion, 3rd Brigade, an IDF reservist from the 8th Brigade, and a non-commissioned officer reservist serving in the 89th Battalion.

In a separate incident, an IDF reservist from the 221st Battalion, 2nd Brigade was seriously injured in fighting in southern Lebanon on Friday.
