Rapper Lil Durk “is arrested for murder-for-hire,” hours after five people were charged with connections to the shooting death of Quando Rondo's cousin

Rapper Lil Durk has reportedly been arrested and charged with murder-for-hire.

According to XXLMag, Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was reportedly arrested by Broward County Police in Florida on Thursday evening

The website reported that the rapper is being held in the Broward County Jail pending custody transfer to the US Marshals.

Reports of his arrest come just hours after five alleged members of Lil Durk's OTF collective were accused of participating in a murder plot against rapper Quando Rondo and shooting his cousin in August 2022.

The charges against the five men, which were dropped yesterday by a U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, include conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire resulting in death and use of a machine gun in a crime of violence resulting in death.

If found guilty, they could face the death penalty.

The indictment alleges that the men indicted – Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston – all have ties to Only the Family, also known as OTF.

The five men were arrested yesterday in the Chicago area.

OTF is a hip hop collective founded by Chicago South Side rapper Lil Durk, who was a mentor to fellow rapper King Von.

The plan to shoot Quando Rando allegedly stems from his alleged involvement in King Von's death in 2020.

King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Bennett, was killed in a fight outside a hookah lounge in Atlanta in November 2020.

After his death, an unnamed co-conspirator who is part of the OTF offered money and “lucrative music opportunities” to anyone who would kill Quando Rondo.

In August 2022, a gunman opened fire on Quando Rondo, whose real name is Terrell Bowman, while he was at a gas station in West Hollywood with his sister and cousin.

Bowman and his sister were uninjured, but his cousin, 24-year-old Saviay'a Robinson, was shot multiple times and died.

The indictment states that on August 18, 2022, Grant rented a hotel room after tracking down Bowman in LA. He later met his co-conspirators and rented a car armed with several firearms to track down Bowman's black Cadillac, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the flights and rental cars were paid for with credit cards linked to OTF.

A surveillance image included in the indictment showed Grant's rented BMW following Bowman's Cadillac.

When he arrived at the gas station, Houston drove down an alley and let Jones, Lindsey and another unknown person get out.

Surveillance video allegedly captured the men pointing their firearms and firing at the car, killing Robinson.

After the crime, the men went to a hamburger restaurant, where they allegedly discussed payment.

The next day, Wilson, Jones, Lindsey and Houston flew from San Diego back to Chicago.

OTF was founded by Lil Durk more than a decade ago when Chicago's drill rap scene was gaining steam.

Lil Durk is one of the most successful drill rappers from Chicago. The genre is known for its extremely violent lyrics and often focuses on gang feuds.

In August 2020, another Chicago rapper was killed in a drive-by shooting. FBG Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was shot and killed in broad daylight while shopping at boutiques in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood.

Three weeks before the attack, Weekly released a music video for his song “Dead B***hes” in which he made what police called “derogatory statements” about the deceased members of the rival Black Disciples gang.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Lil Durk for comment.
