Joliet motorcyclist dead in two-vehicle crash – Shaw Local

A 19-year-old Joliet man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a car in Joliet Thursday evening.

According to Joliet police, officers responded to the area of ​​West Jefferson Street and Reedwood Drive at approximately 5:43 p.m. for a report of a traffic collision with injuries.

A Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle, operated by a 19-year-old Joliet man, collided with a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 19-year-old Romeoville woman, turning west on West Jefferson Street from northbound Reedwood Drive, the police said.

The collision threw the Joliet man from the motorcycle. The speed of the motorcycle may have played a role in the accident, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken by the Joliet Fire Department to Ascension Saint Joseph-Joliet Hospital, where he later died, police said. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The roadway was closed for several hours while traffic investigators reconstructed the scene of the accident, police said. This crash is still under investigation.

Identification of the motorcyclist and manner of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner's Office.
