Road rage: Shooting incident under investigation in Poughkeepsie

The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Wednesday, October 23, at 3:35 p.m. on Dutchess Turnpike near Degarmo Road in the town of Poughkeepsie.

According to Capt. Ralph Cropley of the Poughkeepsie Police Department, an investigation revealed that a Dodge Ram and a Honda Accord were involved in the incident and the driver of the Ram intentionally fired an illegally owned handgun at the Accord, striking it and causing damage.

The driver of the Ram, identified as Jason M. Prigozen, age 49, of Loudonville, Ohio, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

He was booked into the Dutchess County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond, a $40,000 bond and an $80,000 partially secured bond.

Prigozen is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 28th.

The New York State Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office assisted the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
