Edinburgh Police investigate shooting incident at DHR Hospital

The Edinburg Police Department (PD) is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside DHR Hospital today. A 23-year-old man is currently recovering in hospital after sustaining an injury.

Shooting in broad daylight

The incident occurred around one o'clock in the afternoon in the hospital parking lot. Initial reports from Edinburgh Police indicate the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers on scene immediately administered first aid and applied a tourniquet before the man was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary findings from the authorities

Lt. Gabriel Vela Reyna, spokesman for the Edinburgh PD, provided some initial insight into the ongoing investigation. He explained: “It is still early days for us to be able to say whether this was self-inflicted or someone else's fault, but what we can tell you is that the man is expected to recover .”

He added that the shooting occurred in the victim's vehicle and his girlfriend was present at the time. Both the victim and his girlfriend are cooperating with the police in the investigation.

Authorities are looking for more details

Meanwhile, hospital officials confirmed that no one else was injured in the shooting. The hospital statement said the man had parked his car and was waiting for his girlfriend, who works at the hospital, when the gun was fired. Edinburgh police are now trying to determine whether it was an accidental shooting or whether someone else used the weapon.
