Rumpke investigates “cyber security incident”

CINCINNATI – Rumpke is investigating a “cyber security incident,” according to a company spokesperson.

The company said it was working with forensics experts to investigate what happened and would provide notifications and resources to anyone affected by the security issue – although the spokesperson said at the time it did not believe that customer data was at risk.

“The information security of our employees and customers has been and is extremely important to us,” the spokesperson said in an email. “At this time, we do not believe any customer payment information or payment processing systems were compromised.”

Rumpke's trash services in the Greater Cincinnati area were not affected by the incident, the spokesman said.

The company has not released any information about what impact the security incident had.
