Head-on collision involving NJ Transit bus and wrong-way vehicle injuring approximately 24 people in Union, New Jersey

UNION, New Jersey (WABC) — About two dozen people were injured in a head-on crash involving a New Jersey Transit bus in Union, New Jersey, on Friday.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 7:30 a.m

They say a 94 bus was traveling at the intersection of Stuyvesant Avenue and Stanley Terrace when an oncoming vehicle veered into the bus's path and hit it head-on.

A second bus, also on route 94, was behind the accident and had to stop suddenly.

According to police, around 24 people were injured in the accident.

There did not appear to be any life-threatening injuries, but the bus driver suffered neck and hip pain and was taken to University Hospital.

Passengers on the bus suffered varying injuries, from a broken ankle to facial injuries. They were taken to local hospitals.

Stuyvesant Avenue between Stanley Terrace and Pleasant Parkway is closed while police investigate.
