Man sentenced to life in prison for 2021 murder of FSU graduate at I-10 rest stop

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man was found guilty Wednesday of murdering a Florida State University graduate at an I-10 rest stop in 2021.

According to the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida, Papa-Assane Rue was found guilty of first-degree murder, abuse of a dead human body, tampering with evidence and grand larceny of a motor vehicle in connection with the 2021 death of Antrae Lavoris Lennon Public Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's press release, he was sentenced to life in prison after a one-day trial.

Rue's conviction came after the FSU graduate was found stabbed near a car at a rest stop on I-10 near mile marker 194 in April 2021.

Leon County officials found Lennon's body covered with doormats.

Rue's girlfriend, Cassandra Hernandez, testified at Rue's trial that he confessed to killing Lennon and stealing his car, the statement said.

In addition, according to prosecutors, she described how Rue got rid of Lennon's property in Wakulla Beach.

Court records show Hernandez was charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder.

Her case has not yet been heard in court.
