1 dead after Chicopee crash

CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – One person has died in a crash in Chicopee involving a semi-truck.

Following this accident, First Avenue is closed to traffic, causing some traffic jams along Burnett Road. Police are therefore asking drivers to avoid the area.

When our crew arrived on scene, a semi-truck and at least one other vehicle were involved in the accident. Chicopee Police have confirmed there has been a fatality.

Chicopee police, as well as the Massachusetts State Police, Hampden County Sheriff's Department and MassDOT are all on scene.
