Lil Durk arrested for contract killing in 2022 Los Angeles shooting

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk was arrested by U.S. Marshalls on Thursday night in connection with a murder-for-hire plot against another hip-hop star.

The 32-year-old Chicago rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested in Florida and taken to Broward County Jail. He was being held without bail pending charges in a 2022 shooting.

Earlier Thursday, five members of Only the Family, Durk's hip-hop group, were indicted on a federal indictment for conspiring to murder rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo survived a shooting at a Los Angeles gas station in 2022, but his cousin was killed. According to investigators, the OTF targeted Rondo because they believed he was involved in the assassination of King Von in 2020.

This was not Durk's first brush with the law. In 2019, he was charged with five felonies – including attempted murder – in the shooting of a man in the leg outside an Atlanta club. The case against Durk was dropped by the public prosecutor in 2022.

And earlier this month, Durk was hit with a civil lawsuit related to a 2020 gang shooting of Chicago rapper FBG Duck.

Durk and rapper J. Cole won a Grammy for best melodic rap performance in February for their song “All My Life.”

His attorneys, Brian Bieber and Alek Ubieta, told TMZ that Durk will make his first appearance in federal court in Miami, Florida. on Friday.
