Grammy-winning rapper arrested in South Florida on murder-for-hire charges

Durk Devontay Banks, 32, the Grammy-winning rapper known as “Lil Durk,” was arrested Thursday in South Florida on murder-for-hire charges. He was booked into the Broward County Jail, where he is being held without bail, according to NBC News.

GulfLive.com reached out to the Broward County Sheriff's Office for more information but was told to contact the U.S. Marshals Service regarding his arrest. However, U.S. Marshals policy does not include releasing information about federal prisoners to the public.

News of Durk's arrest follows yesterday's arrests of five members of Only the Family (OTF), a Chicago-based hip-hop group founded in 2010 by Lil Durk, in connection with an August 2022 shooting at Saviay's a Robinson, the cousin of Savannah rapper Quando Rondo, whose real name was Tyquian Terrel Bowman, was killed.

Chicago's WGN 9 reported that Bowman (Quando Rondo) was the original target, and OTF members are accused of offering “money and music opportunities” in exchange for his murder – allegedly in retaliation for his alleged involvement in the Chicago rapper's death in November 2020 Dayvon Daquan Bennett, known as King Von.

According to a report from TMZ, all five OTF members were indicted by a California grand jury on Thursday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.

Those named in the indictment include Kavon London Grant (Vonnie), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (DeDe), Keith Jones (Flacka), David Brian Lindsey (Browneyez), and Asa Houston (Boogie).
