Health unit seeks assistance with a possible dog bite incident

Gray Bruce Public Health is appealing for the public's help in identifying a dog involved in a recent possible biting incident in Arran-Elderslie.

On Oct. 22, around 7:30 p.m., a woman and her daughter were walking their dog on 1st Avenue North in Chesley near the city fire department when they encountered a woman walking an older-looking dog.

There was an altercation between the two dogs, during which the woman, who was walking with her daughter, fell and sustained injuries. GBPH was informed that the woman who fell may have been bitten during the altercation.

The older dog is described as a yellow/tan mixed breed. The woman walking the dog was wearing a floral T-shirt and black pants.

GBPH staff must confirm that the dog is not infected with rabies. By checking the dog's health status, the victim can avoid rabies treatment after exposure.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Gray Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1229.
