Dodgers 2024 World Series roster: Alex Vesia, Miguel Rojas, no Phillips

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers have gotten some reinforcements back for the World Series, with left-hander Alex Vesia, shortstop Miguel Rojas and right-hander Brusdar Graterol added to the roster for the Fall Classic against the Yankees, the team announced Friday.

However, the team will be without Evan Phillips, who suffered an injury in Game 6 of the NLCS. More information on this later.

Game 1 of the World Series is Friday night at Dodger Stadium (5:08 p.m. PT, Fox).

Vesia and Rojas were active during the Division Series but were left off the NLCS roster due to an intercostal injury and a torn adductor, respectively. Both said Thursday they were ready for the final series of the seven-month season.

Graterol was sidelined for a month due to shoulder inflammation, in a season in which he only made seven appearances. The right-hander has been a key cog in the Dodgers' bullpen for five seasons and has a career postseason ERA of 1.64 in 22 innings.

With Vesia, Graterol and Rojas, rookie Edgardo Henriquez and outfielder Kevin Kiermaier were removed.

Among other things, the team was still discussing carrying more short relievers than big relievers on Thursday, but the loss of Phillips put paid to that. However, the Dodger-Dawgs added two and subtracted one.

“I do think we have a lot of viable candidates that we can bring together. We can prepare for any scenario, but there will certainly be some more difficult conversations,” Roberts said Thursday.

The Dodgers still have potential length in the bullpen with Brent Honeywell, who will pitch anywhere, anytime, and rookie Ben Casparius, who threw 4⅓ scoreless innings in relief this October.
