New details on Moorhead shooting, man charged with attempted murder

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A man has been charged in connection with a shooting in Moorhead over the weekend.

Francis Robert Ochiti, 28, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder. He is being held in Clay County on a $1 million bond.

On Oct. 19 around 1 p.m., Moorhead police were called to a shooting at a home in the Village Green South neighborhood.

According to newly filed court documents, one victim told officers his half-brother Ochiti shot him and ran away.

The victim said he heard a knock on his bedroom window. He looked out and saw Ochiti with a gun. Ochiti shot through the window and ran away. The victim was not injured.

According to the documents, officers found a hole in the window and a neighbor provided video footage of the incident. According to court documents, the victim had not had contact with his brother for several years.

Court documents show Ochiti took an Uber to his brother's house and told the driver he had “something to do.”

Ochiti is due back in court on January 9, 2025.
