A woman was killed and two other people were hospitalized in a crash that shut down Interstate 95 early Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m

A family member told CBS News Miami's Morgan Rynor ​​​​that the woman killed was a good Samaritan who went to the scene of the accident to help.

A blue Dodge SUV was traveling northbound on I-95 in the area of ​​Northwest 119 Street when the vehicle lost control and struck a concrete barrier, FHP said. The Dodge stopped and blocked the road.

An oncoming black Honda sedan crashed into the Dodge and several occupants standing on the road.

Two people were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Northbound I-95 was closed and traffic was diverted to Northwest 103rd Street.
