Missouri teen charged in shooting spree, including fatal crash in Oklahoma after pursuit

ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. (KY3) – Oklahoma prosecutors have charged a Greene County teenager wanted after a law enforcement pursuit in a fatal crash.

According to court documents in Oklahoma, 17-year-old Anthony Giancola of Rogersville is charged with first-degree murder, endangering others while fleeing police, aggravated assault while fleeing police, larceny of an automobile, possession of stolen vehicle and endangering others while fleeing Escape from the police and patterns of crime.

The accident occurred Sunday on Highway 66 near 410 Road in Rogers County. The pursuit began after authorities said Giancola stole a vehicle in Vinita.

The MPs stopped striving for security. According to investigators, Giancola was turning onto Highway 66 when he struck a vehicle with 23-year-old Logan Harrel and her mother. Harrel died in the crash. She was a cheerleader at nearby Rogers State University.

Investigators say Giancola stole at least three cars, two in Missouri and one in Oklahoma. They say he was also involved in three different car chases, including one in Greene County.

Investigators believe Giancola also broke into a home near Springfield to steal another vehicle. Investigators said Giancola told them he planned to kill the homeowner but changed his mind.

“He made a frightening comment and explained in detail how he went into someone's occupied home,” Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said. “After that, he knew he would continue to have to change vehicles fairly frequently to get to California.”

Investigators say Giancola told them he planned a crime spree from Missouri to Texas to California. Greene County investigators say his family reported him missing hours before the crime began.

Giancola is currently in the Craig County Juvenile Detention Center.
