Bellmead brothers arrested after attacking victim along with dog

BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) — Two brothers were arrested in Bellmead on Oct. 24 after attacking a man, resulting in their dog joining the fight, an affidavit said.

Charles Anderson, 56, and Stephen Anderson, 52, were both charged with aggravated assault. According to the affidavit, Charles Anderson was also charged with assault on a police officer.

Bellmead police were called to the 1600 block of Cole Road. around 8:30 p.m. in connection with a disturbance, the affidavit states.

During a witness interview, officers learned that the brothers started the fight by “hitting the victim with closed fists,” an affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, when the victim began to defend himself, the brother's dog began attacking the victim, causing deep stab wounds to the back of the victim's head.

Officers believed the dog's aggressive behavior was caused by the brothers, the affidavit said. There was no information about the breed of the animal or where the dog was taken after the alleged attack.

While observing the victim, officers noted in the affidavit that in addition to the cuts on the back of his head, the victim also had numerous bruises and cuts on his face.

The affidavit states that the victim's head was actively bleeding when officers arrived, but no information was provided about any medical treatment administered.

After receiving statements from the witness and victim, officers attempted to arrest the brothers to continue their investigation, according to the affidavit. According to the affidavit, Charles Anderson began attacking officers and kicked one of the officers in the face.

Both Charles Anderson and Stephen Anderson are currently being held in the McLennan County Jail. According to online records, Charles Anderson is being held on bonds totaling $20,000, while Stephen Anderson is being held on a $10,000 bond.
