1 dead, 2 in hospital after crash on Bardstown Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A woman is dead and two men are in the hospital after a crash on Bardstown Road Friday afternoon.

Louisville police were called to the scene of the accident on October 25 at 1:10 p.m. The initial investigation, along with witness statements, revealed that a man was speeding north on Bardstown Road when he struck an SUV turning off Bardstown Falls Road.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle, but there was a man and a woman in the SUV. The woman died at the scene and the man in the SUV had to be rescued from the truck by firefighters and was taken to UofL Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle exited his vehicle without assistance and was also taken to UofL Hospital, where he is expected to survive.

LMPD said the crash caused a large debris field and blocked both lanes of traffic on Bardstown Road. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The LMPD Traffic Unit will conduct the investigation.
