Seattle Mariners share videos from High Performance Camp

There is one more series in the 2024 MLB season. The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees will play Game 1 of the World Series on Friday at 5:08 p.m. PT.

While there is still no champion to be crowned, the Seattle Mariners are already preparing their chances for 2025.

Some of the Mariners' best players compete in the Arizona Fall League. And players like Colt Emerson and Jared Sundstrom have looked great in the first two weeks of play.

And other interested parties from Seattle are also at work. They don't compete in games like their AFL rivals, but they're still developing habits in the big league.

The Mariners began High Performance Camp just before the AFL. There are several top prospects among the participants.

Some of the club's best and most promising talent such as Lazaro Montes, Jurrangelo Cijntje, Ryan Sloan, Ben Williamson and Michael Arroyo are among the major league hopefuls of the future in the High Performance Camp.

The AFL offers interested parties a month of games to participate in and improve. Teams use it for a variety of scenarios: extra games for players who were injured during the season, to get an extra look at prospects who might be ready for the next level, or for new draft picks to play a few games could use.

The High Performance Camp, on the other hand, is all about developing habits. The participating athletes rarely “play” baseball. Instead, the focus is on various factors such as nutrition, mechanics, sleep cycle and strength building. It's about physical and tangible variables that can help a player develop big league routines.

And on Friday, the Mariners Player Development account “X” shared a video from the High Performance Camp showing the young players at work.

Despite the intensity shown in the video above, that didn't stop some players from having fun.

The Player Development account also shared a video Thursday showing Montes playing bottle cap baseball.

Jerry Dipoto, Seattle's president of baseball operations, has been extremely vocal about how the team developed its current player development system and the results it has achieved.

Depending on how spring training goes in 2025, this system could produce more positive results.
