Robert Shwartzman was penalized five places on the grid despite not being scheduled to race following the incident in FP1 in Mexico

After a hearing, the stewards concluded that Shwartzman had violated Appendix H, Article 2.5.5 b) of the International Sporting Code by overtaking Yuki Tsunoda at high speed in the yellow zone, which resulted in Shwartzman losing five starting places was demoted for the next race in which Shwartzman takes part.

Acknowledging the fact that Shwartzman is not currently racing in Formula 1 – the Israeli driver is competing in the World Endurance Championship instead – a document released by the stewards added to the decision: “The penalty is the usual penalty for speeding with double yellow coloring, and.” Although the stewards recognize that the driver is not scheduled to start the race, they have imposed the consistent penalty.”
