Teenage fugitive accused of killing Sonic manager is now back in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – A teenager accused of shooting and killing a man who worked as a manager at a local Sonic and then going on the run is now back in San Antonio.

Adiah Roberson, 17, was returned to the city Thursday afternoon and booked into the Bexar County Adult Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force announced earlier this week that Roberson was captured in Dallas on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Dallas counterpart, the North Texas Fugitive Task Force, shared some additional details about the arrest with KSAT 12 News on Friday.

In a written statement, Jerome Sanders said a tip led task force members to a Dallas apartment complex where Roberson was arrested without incident.

San Antonio police believe Roberson pulled the trigger and shot 33-year-old Daniel Shrewsbury on July 7.

Shrewsbury had just arrived for a night shift as a manager at the fast food restaurant in the 5500 block of Babcock Road.

Police said Roberson tried to pay for groceries with counterfeit money.

When she was unsuccessful, Roberson grabbed a tip jar full of employee money from the counter, according to officers' testimony.

Shrewsbury then followed her outside, where she shot him, police said. He stumbled back into the restaurant, where he collapsed and died.

In August, police arrested 28-year-old Joshua Joseph, who they believe was driving the car Roberson was in at the time.

In the days immediately following the murder, police shared surveillance photos with reporters in the hopes that someone might help them find Roberson. She was also placed on the state's most wanted list.

Roberson is in jail on bonds totaling more than $600,000.
