Man arrested after officer-involved shooting in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore Police have released new details about an officer who shot at a gas station Thursday afternoon.

According to the department, officers stopped a vehicle with a passenger, Joshua Estrada, who had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Police said Estrada gave them false identification and when officers noticed this, they asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Estrada allegedly made a comment to an officer insinuating that he would hurt them to avoid arrest. When officers attempted to arrest him, police said he openly moved toward officers.

The officers fired several shots at him.

He was taken to Exceptional Community Hospital in Ardmore where he was treated and released shortly afterwards.

The driver of the vehicle and the officers were not injured and the officers were placed on routine administrative leave.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents later arrested Estrada on charges of making terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and the outstanding warrant.
