Medicine take-back day for unused prescriptions on Saturday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – On Saturday, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) plans to participate in the 27th annual prescription drug takeback.

People with unused or unwanted prescription medications can safely drop them off at local drop-off locations:

  • Colorado Springs Police Operations Center: 705 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903
  • PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic: 3141 Centennial Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80907
  • King Soopers: 7915 Constitution Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80951
  • Memorial Hospital North: 4050 Briargate Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80920
  • Widefield Parks and Rec: 755 Aspen Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80911

Locations will be open on Drug Takeback Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m

There are 59 law enforcement agencies participating across the state of Colorado.

Drug take-back days take place twice a year – typically at the end of April and October.

In April, law enforcement agencies across the country seized 335 tons of prescription drugs. In Colorado, law enforcement collected 10,017 pounds.
