Trump was accused of groping a woman in 1993 while Jeffrey Epstein watched

WASHINGTON (AP) — Stacey Williams is blaming the former president Donald Trump that she was groped in Trump Tower in early 1993 as a disgraced hedge fund manager Jeffrey Epstein observed.

The former model initially made the allegation on Monday during a video chat with survivors of sexual violence who supported the vice president Kamala Harris ' campaign. In an interview with The Associated Press on Friday, she described walking down Fifth Avenue in New York with Epstein, whom she was meeting at the time, when he suggested they visit Trump at his namesake tower.

As soon as Trump saw her, she said, “he put his arms around me and pulled me close.”

“Then he started groping me. He started rubbing his hands up and down my body. He touched my breasts. He touched my waist. He touched my butt,” she said. “And while his hands are on me, he continues to have a conversation with Jeffrey, who is standing across from us. And I just froze. I was so confused.”

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Trump, called the allegations “clearly false” and argued they were politically motivated.

The organizer of the video call, “Survivors for Kamala,” said this week’s meeting was unrelated to the Harris campaign and was an external gathering of sexual violence survivors and advocacy organizations. The Harris campaign declined to comment on the allegations on Friday. And Williams said that while she voted for Harris, she had no contact with the Democratic campaign nor knowingly had contact with anyone associated with her candidacy.

The allegation is the latest in a long list of allegations made against Trump, including by E. Jean Carrollwho was embroiled in a legal battle with the businessman and president after a jury found him guilty in 2023 of sexually assaulting the advice columnist in 1996 and later of defamation. The allegations against Trump go back decades and include those described in the “Access Hollywood” video, a 2005 video released just weeks before the 2016 election in which the then-reality TV star bragged , grabbing women, forcibly kissing them and sexually assaulting them.

In the interview, Williams said the encounter with Trump “felt orchestrated,” as if she had been “led in for this moment and they both knew exactly what they were doing.”

“I was just like, you know, a thing to play with about some twisted game or a bet or something,” she added.

At the time of the alleged incident, Trump was in his mid-40s, while Williams was in his mid-20s. Williams said she remembered “an aide who had come over a few times” and whom she had gotten to know, but the encounter was primarily just a conversation about her, Trump and Epstein. In total, she said, the encounter lasted about “about five minutes, maybe a little longer, definitely less than ten minutes.”

While Epstein was chatty and didn't say anything to Trump in the moment, Williams remembers his “energy” changing as they got in the elevator to leave.

“He didn’t make eye contact with me. He seemed to be seething, like he was really angry,” she said. “And my heart was still pounding and I was still confused.”

When the two arrived on the street, she said, “The first thing he said was, 'Why did you let him do that?' And he insulted me. … Of course I was immediately ashamed.”

What you should know about the 2024 election

After that encounter, the two went in different directions — “I went downtown, he went downtown,” she said — and that's when Williams said she started to really process what happened.

On the call earlier this week, Williams added that she received a postcard from Trump “shortly after” the meeting at Trump Tower. Williams said her agent received the postcard by courier from Trump.

Williams' team provided images of the postcard to the AP. On one side there is a photo of Palm Beach and Mar-a-Lago, the former president's vacation spot in Florida, on the other side there is supposedly writing from Trump. “Stacey, your second home. Lots of love, Donald,” the postcard reads.

Williams said her encounter with Trump was the third — and final — time she had met Trump. The pair had previously met at a Christmas party thrown by the businessman in 1992, but after meeting in early 1993, the model was “so averse to running into him afterwards.” I never wanted to be near him again.” Williams said she saw Epstein “one or two more times” after meeting Trump in 1993.

Although Trump has tried to distance himself from Epstein in recent years, he has he told New York Magazine in 2002 that he had known “Jeff” for 15 years.

“Great guy,” Trump told the magazine. “It's a lot of fun to be with him. It's even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. There’s no doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

The reason Williams says she's coming forward now is because she decided to say in a recently premiered documentary called “Beyond the Gaze” that she was groped by a former president in front of Jeffrey Epstein, so a person close to Williams who requested anonymity to describe their private thinking. She didn't mention Trump by name in the interview, but only found out a few weeks ago that the comment would be included in the documentary, the person said, which is why Williams thought it was time to speak out since the comment was likely would receive great attention.

Williams said that when the “Access Hollywood” tape came out, she thought, “Finally everyone is going to find out what a crazy guy this is for doing things like this.”

“I had the urge to tell the story somehow. But you know, as a mother of a young child, I wouldn't bring that into my life,” she said Friday.

However, when Trump won the election, Williams said she was “disgusting.”

“It was unimaginable … just like we were upside down,” she said.
