The ending of “Outlander” season 8 has still not been decided by show bosses | Television & Radio | Showbiz and television

The final chapters of “Outlander” remain a mystery, puzzling both cast and crew.

The epic journey of Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) is set to conclude with the eighth season next year, after the upcoming episodes of the seventh season are completed.

Next season continues the story of the Frasers as they return to Scotland, leaving their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) at home in fear, while her husband Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) embarks on another journey through time to… to save her kidnapped child.

The ensemble has now completed filming season eight, with Heughan noting that there will be a return for Pick-Ups soon.

Fans of the series are excited to continue the Frasers' tale, and the cast, along with producer Maril Davis, recently gave a sneak peek at the Outlander odyssey that lies ahead at New York Comic Con.

At the event, Davis revealed that the crucial scenes of the finale would be kept top secret.

When asked how many had glimpsed the final episode's full script during the panel, she admitted: “A few people have seen it.”

“But Matt Roberts, our showrunner, intentionally didn't want – and it wasn't just the actors – he didn't want everyone to get our normal distribution.”

She concluded by saying, “So we didn’t provide the full script to everyone. Still, not everyone has seen it to this day, so we won’t tell people the ending.”

Davis then revealed to fans that the Outlander finale is being kept secret.

“He hasn’t decided the ending yet,” she shared. “We do this on purpose because there are leaks.”

“Not these people!” She quickly calmed down, showing her trust in the cast's discretion regarding the show's climax.

“But people talk. And we’re just trying to preserve it.”

Heughan added a humorous interjection: “We’re telling you, don’t worry,” which drew laughter from the panel. “They’ll tell you later,” Davis shot back.

However, the brains behind the Outlander book series, Diana Gabaldon, is in the loop about the final chapter of the series.

“We were very careful,” Davis assured. “We didn’t want to step on her toes. There’s another book.”

“So we end it the way we do. We just wanted to be respectful of not ending it the way she would.”

As readers eagerly await the tenth Outlander novel, fans of the TV series prepare for an emotional farewell to the beloved world of Claire, Jamie and their extended family.

The second part of Outlander's seventh season premieres on Friday November 22nd on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
