Morris County law enforcement is participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

MORRIS COUNTY – Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Detective Chief Robert McNally, Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon, Hanover Township Chief Michael Loock, Morris Plains Borough Police Chief Mike Koroski, Morris Township Police Chief Robert Shearer and Randolph Police Chief of the community, Will Harzula, announces that she will participate in the annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a biannual event coordinated nationwide by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in which state, county and local law enforcement agencies work together to celebrate National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to host Back Day across the country.

The goal of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is to encourage the public to anonymously turn in unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for proper disposal. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office works with the Morris County Sheriff's Office, Hanover Township Police Department, Morris Plains Borough Police Department, Morris Township Police Department and Randolph Township Police Department to reduce drug abuse and misuse . The Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Office will then collect the discarded prescription medications and properly destroy them in a safe and non-hazardous manner.

During this event, satellite collection sites will be in operation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including at the following locations in Morris County:
