Tangipahoa Arrests Man for Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend | Crime/Police

An Amite man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Demarcus Womack, 22, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of obstruction of justice, the sheriff's office said.

Officers were called to a home on Bankston Road just before 7 a.m. Friday and found 19-year-old Aieron Thomas dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was 13 weeks pregnant.

The sheriff's office said they located Womack and that he admitted to the shooting and tried to hide evidence of the crime. It didn't say what evidence led them to Womack.
