In 2024, India has faced a number of high-profile paper leak scandals, from the high-profile NEET UG controversy to problems with the UGC NET 2024 and the UP police constable recruitment exam. Reports of compromised exams emerge almost every month, raising concerns about the integrity of competitive recruiting processes. Well, those Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has added to this list and canceled the recruitment exams for Revenue Officer (RO) Grade 1 and Executive Officer (EO) Grade 4 due to allegations of paper leaks and mass fraud.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has canceled the recruitment exam 2022 for Revenue Officer (RO) Grade 1 and Executive Officer (EO) Grade 4 due to allegations of paper leak and widespread cheating. The exam initially took place in multi-shift operation on May 14, 2023 and has now been postponed to March 23, 2025.
Around 1.9 million candidates appeared for the RPSC RO/EO exam, out of which 311 were shortlisted for 111 available posts. According to reports, the exam was canceled after several candidates allegedly used Bluetooth devices during the exam.
Immediately after the audit, suspicions of a paper leak arose, leading to the filing of several FIRs alleging irregularities. “Around 1.96 lakh candidates appeared in the exam, out of which 311 were included in the eligibility test and document verification list,” RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta told IANS. A case was first registered at Naya Shahar police station in Bikaner on May 4, 2023 and a chargesheet was filed on August 6, confirming widespread electronic device fraud.
The RPSC requested an investigation from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) on June 12, 2024. A further examination of the candidates' documents took place from August 2 to 8, culminating in an investigative note. By August 14, ATS and SOG were formally commissioned to investigate and on August 28, the Additional Director of ATS submitted findings to the RPSC, which led to several arrests by SOG Jaipur on October 19.
According to RPSC secretary Mehta, the investigation report confirmed paper leakage and extensive use of Bluetooth devices by the candidates. “In view of these findings, the commission has decided to cancel and postpone the exam,” he said, as reported by IANS.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has published a notice regarding cancellation of the exam on its official website rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in. Candidates can click on this link to read the full notice.
