The prank LeBron James played on Bronny James by filling his car with cereal before the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener might have been more effective if the rookie didn't have other vehicles to drive to Tuesday night's game.

“Thank God that wasn't my car,” Bronny James said of the prank after the Lakers' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

LeBron James added: “He has multiple cars now. He opened this one and then got into another one.”

Bronny James made his NBA debut when he played three minutes off the bench in the Lakers' 110-103 victory over the Timberwolves.

James missed two shot attempts in his short time on the court, including a chance that set up a possible assist from his father.

LeBron James scored in his 1,493rd. NBA game of his career 16 points on 7 of 16 shooting.

When Bronny James subbed in for him in the second quarter, they became the first father and son to play in an NBA game together.

They are also the fourth father-son duo to ever play a professional sports game together. They join Gordie, Mark and Marty Howe of the Hartford Whalers, Tim Raines and Tim Raines Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles and Ken Griffey Jr. of the Seattle Mariners. and Ken Griffey Sr.

The cereal prank, made in a video that likely also featured product placements for Fruity Pebbles and Nike, wasn't the first time the younger James was gently “harassed” before his NBA debut.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, James was seen in Las Vegas on Oct. 15 carrying his belongings around in a shiny backpack, a tradition of hazing Lakers rookies.

Now that the No. 55 pick of the 2024 draft has officially made his Lakers debut, Bronny James could spend some time away from the team. His struggles early in the preseason and the limited minutes he received in his rookie debut suggest that head coach JJ Redick and the Lakers could plan for him to continue developing in the G League before moving to the NBA full-time .
