Neighbor witnesses a tragic house fire in the southwest valley that killed four people

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Flames ripped through a single-family home in the Southwest Valley, leaving two adults and two children dead early Thursday morning. On Friday, the neighborhood came together, united by grief.

These are the pictures that have left Marlene McCraw devastated after a fire ravaged the house across the street.

“It's something you can't explain…it's unbelievable,” McCraw said.

Early Thursday morning, McCraw woke up to the sight of flames engulfing the second and third floors
from their neighbors' house.

She said a tragedy like this is every parent's worst nightmare come true.

As close as a mother, just the thought of losing the children in the blink of an eye.

McCraw took me into her house and showed me the bathroom window where she stood helplessly watching what she described as a real horror movie unfolding and hearing sounds she wished she could forget.

“He screamed: Help me, help me, help me, and then the house exploded,” she said.

Now her gaze reveals the charred remains of her neighbor's home – nothing but burned rubble that she said will always haunt her.

Abel: Have you ever seen anything like this?

McCraw: “Never, ever, unbelievable.”

In this video, shot by McCraw just after 6 a.m. Thursday, you can see flames exploding through every window, lighting up the entire neighborhood with a violent, frightening glow.

Clark County Fire said two adults and two children died in the inferno. The mother and a five-year-old child managed to escape by jumping out of a third-story window.

McCraw remembers the family as quiet and close-knit – and says their loss will leave a lasting mark on Langhorne Creek Street.

Fire officials told Channel 13 that the damage was so severe that a full investigation could take days – with floors, walls and roof collapsed, the site remains dangerous to enter.

Like many here, McCraw hopes a tragedy like this never happens again.
