Suspect in custody after chase with officers ends in crash in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A suspect is in custody after a chase with officers ended in a crash Friday night in Fresno.

The collision occurred just after 9:30 a.m. near Palm and Sierra.

According to investigators, the pursuit began nearly five miles away near Shields and Hughes due to a traffic violation.

At one point, the driver let a passenger off before running a red light and crashing into an SUV.

The suspect lost control and crashed into a fire hydrant, a utility pole and then a tree.

The two people in the other SUV reported only mild pain.

Officers arrested the suspect.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment and will later be taken to prison.
