Dana White reveals the only problem plaguing UFC's first PPV event in Spain

So Dana White said it and yes, the UFC is actually coming to Spain. But when and where? Well, that's the biggest problem here. The CEO is working on it, as he put it, but there seems to be a major challenge that the promotion is having a hard time overcoming. White claims this is the only thing stopping him from holding an event in Spain.

Dana White claims there's no question the UFC will head to Spain if given the chance. The only thing they don't like, however, is the fact that most of the arenas are already booked for other sporting events. Now the 55-year-old hasn't specified which venues he's talking about, but whenever the promotion opens they'll be bringing the action to the Spanish fans.

“Yes, we are working on Spain. “We will come to Spain as soon as possible,” Dana White explained during the UFC 308 press conference. “The problem with Spain is that the arenas are overcrowded. As soon as an arena opens, we’ll be there.”

Spain is known around the world for having some of the best national sports with an international reputation. With football being the most popular and played sport in the world, it is no wonder that Dana White finds it difficult to get to Spain at a popular venue. However, the CEO did name the venues in Spain he is considering for UFC's first Spanish PPV.

Barcelona or Madrid? Dana White's dilemma

UFC's biggest Spanish star Ilia Topuria loves the Real Madrid football team, and during the press conference a Spanish journalist asked if Dana White was thinking about holding the event at the club's home stadium, Santiago Bernabeu. Well, the boss claimed that there are two places he is looking for after double checking Peter DropickExecutive Vice President of Event Development and Operations at TKO. It's either Madrid or Barcelona.

“We are talking to Madrid and Barcelona. “That’s who we’re talking to,” Dana White added. Ilia Topuria seemed a little excited about this, as Real Madrid and Barcelona have one of the most legendary football rivalries that transcends all sports. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona has also accepted and taken his side Max Holloway who was awarded the No. 9 jersey. If you don't know what that means, No. 9 is given to the striker. So could it be a dig at Topuria by claiming the better striker is “blessed”? We'll never know.

Well, before we head to Spain, let's see if the champion can retain his title this weekend to reclaim it and headline a PPV in his home country. His former rival, Alexander Volkanovski seems to think “El Matador” has a chance to win, and that’s important to note because “Volk” has beaten Holloway three times. It will be interesting to see what happens next at UFC 308.
