Authorities are investigating multiple reports of gunshots near the UC Berkeley campus early Saturday morning.

So far the police have not found any victims.

According to radio reports reviewed by The Scanner, a community member called an officer around 12:10 p.m. and said he saw someone firing a gun into the air.

About 10 minutes later, UC Berkeley's ShotSpotter system picked up the sound of gunfire at several locations near campus: in the 2200 block of Bancroft Way, the 2200 block of Fulton Street and the 2200 block of University Avenue.

University of California police said in a WarnMe alert that around 12:20 p.m., UC Berkeley's ShotSpotter system “had several isolated activations south of the UC campus and was moving westward away from campus.”

According to emergency radio, a person told police they heard four gunshots.

The investigation is ongoing, but UC Berkeley police reported over the radio that they had found possible evidence of gunfire at Fulton and Kittredge streets and other locations, including Blackwell Hall on Durant Ave. 2401, where a bullet reportedly penetrated the drystone wall.

Shortly before 12:45 a.m., a person told police they saw two vehicles traveling north on Sutter Street when a passenger fired a gun into the air, according to radio traffic.

The Scanner has asked police for more information and will update this story if it is provided.

As of October 26, there have been 24 shootings in Berkeley, leaving three dead and seven injured.
